Queen Latifah at the Michael Jackson memorial

The Michael Jackson Memorial is one of the most widely watched memorials in U.S. television history. Among the likes of John F. Kennedy, Princess Diana, and Ronald Reagan, Michael Jackson drew millions of viewers and shall continue to be a legacy.

Michael Jackson is still one of the most celebrated entertainers of our time. He sang and danced in such a unique style, he can never be duplicated. But many celebrities humbled themselves and performed to honor the King of Pop. While many of these performances were through song and dance, one performance stood out in particular.

World-renowned poet Maya Angelou wrote a poem in loving memory of Michael Jackson and asked  rapper/singer/actress Queen Latifah to perform it. Queen Latifah brought Maya Angelou’s words to life, conveying them with just the right combination of love, nostalgia, and strength.
