 Elevated! is one of San Diego County’s best gatherings for poets and musicians who wish to share their work on an open mic. Founded by members of the slam poetry troupe Collected Purpose, Elevated! allows novice and professional poets alike to perform. After the open mic portion, there is also a feature poet who is given an extended amount of time to present his or her work.

This week things are happening a little bit differently. Elevated! will be hosting the Best in San Diego poetry slam this Thursday, July 30th. Teams from San Diego, Imperial Empire, and Los Angeles will compete, along with a surprise mystery team.

Recently, Team San Diego took the prize at the Best in L.A. poetry slam. Watch the poets spit rhymes and win over the crowd with the hopes of representing their cities.

The Best in San Diego slam will begin at 9 p.m. at the Eveoke Dance Studio, 2811-A University Ave., San Diego, CA 92101. Cover is $5.
