Nothing says summer like an icy, frozen treat. I've long been a fan of the sugary, slushy drinks from 7-11 stores called Slurpees. But treating the whole family to a Slurpee can be an expensive proposition.

Take advantage of a FREE Slurpee celebration this Saturday.  July 11, 2009 -- aka "7/11" -- is the day that the convenience store chain celebrates its birthday. To say "thank you" to its customers, participating stores are giving away free Slurpee drinks. You can pour your favorite flavor. My favorite is Crystal Light (tm) Peach Mango Fusion. It's sugar free, making it less of a guilty indulgence. Try Strawberry Pineapple Lime or What-a-Melon. Or, if you've had another sleepless night due to a teething baby or fretful toddler, get an extra boost with Black Ice, the Monster Energy Slurpee drink. It is a black-colored frozen drink packed with a full load of Monster’s potent energy blend, the first frozen Monster beverage.

As a caveat, the free Slurpees are available in special 7.11-ounce cups. (The regular sizes of Slurpee cups range from 12 ounces to 44 ounces.) The promotion is only eligible while the supply of cups lasts in stores, and not all flavors are available in all stores.
