homemade-pumpkin-breadHomemade pumpkin bread, warm from the oven along with a cup of coffee is one of my favorite treats. This is one of my prized recipes that everyone asks for. It also makes two loaves, so you can have one now and freeze one for Thanksgiving dinner.

Pumpkin Bread

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

You will need the following ingredients:

  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 lb. canned pumpkin
  • 3-1/2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 2/3 cup cold water
  1. Grease and dust with flour,  2 loaf pans.
  2. In a large bowl, using a mixer, beat  eggs, oil, and sugar until blended.
  3. Add pumpkin and mix until blended.
  4. Add dry ingredients and mix until combined.
  5. Mix in water.
  6. Pour evenly into 2 loaf pans.
  7. Bake for 1 hour.  Pumpkin bread is done when toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  8. Cool before slicing.
