Here's a recap of how a few of USC's draft-eligible players performed at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis from Tony Pauline of TFYDraft.com, as told to SportsIllustrated.com.
Mark Sanchez: Sanchez struggled most of the day and may have pushed himself out of the draft's first 10 selections. He was accurate throwing between the numbers, but Sanchez sprayed the outs and was very inaccurate with his deep outs. Most worrisome is Sanchez showed marginal arm strength and on a number of occasions receivers were slowing up in their deep patterns as his passes were underthrown.
Clay Matthews: Matthews ran well Monday and was the fastest of the four Trojan linebackers at the combine. He posted times of 4.59 then 4.60 in the forty. Matthews later turned in a solid session in position drills.
Rey Maualuga: Maualuga's downward spiral seemingly continues. He completed his initial attempt in the 40 in over 4.8 seconds then slumped to the ground with a hamstring injury after crossing the finish line. There's a lot of concern in Indianapolis regarding Maualuga's well-being and some of the decisions he's made in the past few months. He was once considered a top 10 pick but is falling to the end portion of round one.
Kevin Ellison - Ellison ran a time slower than most of the linebackers when he clocked 4.8's in the 40. He looked solid in drills but the lack of speed will limit the types of coverage schemes Ellison can be used in at the next level. His draft stock took a hit on Tuesday.
