Montana: Sanchez best prepared for NFL
Earlier today, USC quarterback Mark Sanchez made it official.
He's going pro.
"In the end, after sleepless nights and lots of prayers, I've decided I'll forgo my fifth year and declare for the NFL draft," he told an audience of reporters at a news conference earlier today.
"It is with a heavy heart I am going to leave this university," admitted Sanchez.
Before Sanchez's press conference, Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana
told radio host Dan Patrick that he thought Sanchez was better prepared for the NFL than players like Tim Tebow or Sam Bradford.
"I did see a lot of USC play," Montana told Patrick. "They mix it up pretty good. [Sanchez] gets a lot of snaps under center. He gets a lot of snaps from the shotgun. I think, of all of them, to be the most prepared, would probably be him.
Earlier in the interview, Patrick asked him when you truly know a player is ready to play in the NFL.
"I don't think you do," Montana said. "I don't think anybody does. It's just like going from high school to college and the same transition from college to the NFL."
