Honeywell had a heckuva good week in China

SHANGHAI, CHINA – Honeywell International had a number of positive announcements to make this past week related to its operations in China. Honeywell operates ten different facilities throughout China, including Aerospace maintenance and manufacturing facilities in Xiamen, Nanjing and Shanghai.

  • Honeywell announced that it has signed a cooperation agreement with China's Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) to expand the existing joint cooperation framework and steering committee to launch teams to develop cooperation programs plans on major aerospace systems including avionics, flight controls, air management, lighting, wheels and brakes and auxiliary power units for China's aerospace industry and aircraft.

 

  • Honeywell announced the creation of the Honeywell China Aerospace Academy at the Honeywell Shanghai Learning Center in Pudong. The Honeywell China Aerospace Academy will provide learning opportunities for the increasing number of customers in the region. The academy will offer state-of-the-art courses designed for the needs of the local industry and customers. The training courses being offered include Technology, Certification, Program Management, Six Sigma Management & Leadership Training, Air-worthiness Training, and Total Quality Management. Coursework will include both classroom and on-line elements. The academy will provide experienced and qualified instructors and trainers from the US and from other countries to deliver courses in China.
  • Honeywell has been invited to be an international advisor to the Municipal Government of Wuhan as it builds on its aggressive industrialization and urbanization program. Shane Tedjarati, President and CEO of Honeywell China and India, will participate at the 6th meeting of the Wuhan Mayor's International Advisory Council (WMIAC), a high-level platform from which Honeywell can offer counsel and extend opportunities of cooperation to assist Wuhan and the Hubei province.

 

  • Honeywell Intellectual Property International, the licensing division of Honeywell, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Guangdong Science and Technology Commission for technology innovation cooperation and a strategic business cooperation agreement with the Shanghai Guangdian Electric Group (SGEG). The agreements were signed at the 11th China Hi-Tech Fair which is being held at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center.
  • A five-year partnership that educated nearly 500,000 children in more than 600 primary schools in China on child safety has won Honeywell and Safe Kids Worldwide-China the American Chamber of Commerce Shanghai 2009 Corporate Social Responsibility Partnership Award. The primary schools reached through this program are in the cities of Chengdu, Chongqing, Nanjing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Tianjin and Xi'an. A special curriculum was developed for schools in the Xiushui town, Sichuan province, affected by the devastating 2008 earthquake. This curriculum which teaches pupils how to keep themselves safe during an earthquake was held at the Honeywell United Primary School that Honeywell and its employees helped to rebuild. The school was opened in May this year.
