It's that time of year again!  Time to decide what type of turkey will be the star of your Thanksgiving dinner party.  Why not visit a local turkey farm and place an order for a farm fresh gobbler?

This Thanksgiving marks the 60th year the Roperti Turkey Farm in Livonia (http://www.freewebs.com/ropertis/index.htm) has been in business.  Starting with only 50 turkeys in 1948, the Roperti farm now raises 4,500 birds a year!  According to owner and operator, Christine Roperti, the secret to a good tasting bird is what they have been fed.  As such, Roperti is dedicated to carrying on the tradition passed down from her parents by making sure her free-range, organic birds eat only corn, wheat and oats.

In addition to hens and toms, the Roperti Turkey Farm also sells smoked turkeys, and Dearborn hams.  It's not too late to reserve the perfect weight turkey or ham for Thanksgiving (734-464-6546).  Also, it's not to early to place another order for the December holidays.

Remember, fresh turkeys from a farm cook faster than birds from a grocery store.  Be sure to check out the Roperti's website for Thanksgiving recipes and suggestions on what to do with leftovers.  Happy Thanksgiving!
