St Louis library parties for teens         MSClipart

St Louis County Library is sponsoring Teen Read Week October 18-29. To celebrate, the library is planning some exciting and fun things that teens in St Louis Mo will really enjoy. Based on the library’s theme "Read Beyond Reality", the St Louis branches are hosting movies and events just for teenagers ages 12-19.

The fun includes the movies "Inkheart", "Transformers II", "Coraline" and "Twilight", Twilight Trivia night, learning to make your own video, Pizza book swap, Anime eyes and a Halloween blast. The library is also sponsoring a writing contest, with a $20.00 prize.

Teen Zone has a great list of Teen books to read, a Homework Help spot and a list of Links with the information teenagers in St Louis Mo are looking for.

Teen Read Week Lock-in: Create a Fantasy Creature or Costume
Knights, dragons, fairies, and trolls, they’re all part of the world of fantasy. Celebrate this alternate reality by creating your own fantasy creature or costume. Draw, staple, glue, stitch, construct! We’ll supply scraps of fabric, glitter, sequins, paper, markers, and other embellishments for you to decorate your work. Feel free to bring any sort of clothing or supplies from home as well. The best three creations receive fantastic prizes! Ages 12-18. Registration required.

In honor of Teen Read Week, teens ages 12-18 can enter the "What Will the World Be Like in 2110" essay contest. Write your version of life in 2110 in 50 words or less. On the surface, this "Other World" eerily mimics her own life - though it is much more fantastical. While encountering different versions of her own life ultimately, Coraline must rely on her resourcefulness, determination and bravery to get back home.  Refreshments will be provided.  Ages 11-18.  Registration required.
