DEARBORN,MICHIGAN – An unidentified 54-year-old man was removed from his two-story home in Dearborn, Michigan after investigators found about 150 dead dog packed inside his basement freezer earlier this week.

Police investigators said the man’s house was littered with feces and trash. Police also rescued 110 dogs from the feces infested home, most of which were Chihuahuas and mixed breeds.

The surviving canines were taken to a local animal shelter where many of the town’s residents have already donated food and started filling adoption papers for the pooches.

The gruesome discovery was made after a neighbor called police to complain about the rancid odor resonating from his neighbor’s home.

Police said when they arrived at the man’s house he appeared to be confused and disoriented. The man was taken in to custody and transferred to a local area hospital where he is currently under observation.

Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said a criminal investigation is currently underway.
