According to boxofficemojo.com, the estimated box office champion for the July 4th weekend is...still undecided. Both Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen are currently set to make $42.5 million each. Final numbers will not be in until tomorrow. Ice Age has made $67.5 million since its Wednesday release, while Transformers now sits as the highest grossing film of the year with a total of $293.5 million. 

 

In third, Public Enemies debuted with $26.2 million ($41 million since its Wednesday release). 

 

At fourth was The Proposal ($12.8 million this weekend, $94.2 million overall). In fifth was year’s number one comedy The Hangover ($10.4 million this weekend, $204.2 million overall). Sixth belonged to Up ($6.6 million this weekend, $264.9 million overall). At seventh was My Sister’s Keeper, which continued to struggle ($5.3 million this weekend, $25.9 million overall). Eighth belonged to The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 ($2.5 million this weekend, $58.5 million overall). 

 

Oddly, the top 10 also featured a tie at the bottom of the pack, with Year One and Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian each making $2.1 million. 

 

Next weekend brings a big comedy heavy hitter with Sacha Baron Cohen’s Bruno
