The products of Diageo travel the globe. The reach (and price range) of their spirits spans from Guiness Beer to Bailey's Irish Cream to Henessy Cognac. Along with that selection is Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines (DC&E) and they are taking off on a new adventure.
Wily Jack™ is a selection of inexpensive California wines produced by (DC&E). The company's winemaker, Jason Becker, searched the California vineyards for just the right fruit for the 2008 Chardonnay, 2007 Cabernet and 2007 Zinfandel, but the story doesn't end there. You see, Wily Jack™ is a story.
The character of Wily Jack™ will adorn the series of ones as he takes off on his travels. Here is a sample of chapter one:
The sun’s last hurrah laid long shadows across the barren plain. Wily Jack sat on a weathered outcropping enjoying his new freedom. The city, a distant blur on the horizon, couldn’t reach him here. Tomorrow he would continue west, but tonight he would lie on his back and watch the stars spin tight circles around an unknown point in the infinite sky.
There's plenty more on the wine (and the travels of its namesake) on the official website. I have not tried the wine yet so I can't comment on its taste, but an $8 adventure from the same company that produces Dom Pérignon? Sounds like it's worth a try to me.
