                  Enology Wine Bar

Picture a posh New York wine bar: sleek atmosphere -- music -- great selection of wines… But you don't need to go to take the train up to the Big Apple to experience that. Right here, in Washington, DC, Enology wine bar offers all that and more.

Instead of ordering a glass of wine - try a wine flight. What's a wine flight? It's a sampling of wines and a great way to try your hand at tasting different wines. It's also a wonderful way to try wines you might not typically order. Not to mention the way they bring out your wine flights looks pretty snazzy and is sure to turn a few heads your way. Typically, when doing a wine flight, you are presented with three wines (with a theme) -- usually centered around either wine variety or location. Enology offers wine flights from Sparkling to Dessert flights. In total - 19 flights. If a flight is not what you want -- they offer over 70 wines by the glass. In other words, they have something for everyone.

Flights such as the "Hint of Citrus" -- consist of three white wines all from California. A Verdelho -- Albarino and Chenin Blanc. The name of the flight gives it away. Three citrusy wines -- gradually becoming more citrus like towards the third glass. Three grape varieties you might not normally go for. The winner of the night was the Chenin Blanc. The flight itself cost $12 -- very generous pours as well.

The menu at Enology isn't too large that you may find yourself in a quandary about what to order, just enough tasty treats to choose from. There is a nice selection of cheeses -- with descriptions of flavors (ie., tangy, moist, buttery, earthy). Which makes choosing a cheese to go with your wine flight much easier. If you feel unsure about what food -- whether it be the pesto flatbread or the tuna sliders to go with your wine flight -- ask the waiter. Chances are they'll have a recommendation.

It's a great spot to meet up with friends on a week night or weekend to enjoy wines you like or explore the flights of wine, perhaps finding some new ones to add to your favorites.
