Agua de Piedra Malbec

Picture a roaring fire a good classic Halloween movie, glass of wine and pork. Pork!? It may sound like quite the combination, but it actually makes for a great Autumn evening dinner.

Pork can be so dry and sometimes tough enough to pull a muscle - but if you cook it just right, it can be a thing of beauty. It is after all the "other" white meat. Rachel Ray has a pork recipe that is perfect for fall and happens to be equally perfect paired with Malbec. Rachel Ray's Stuffed Pork Chops with Cream Cheese Potatoes and Sugar Snap Peas is not difficult to create and is a very tasty dish. (click the link for the recipe).

Wine pairing: Most might go with a white wine because it is a white meat, yet a red wine with the right balance and flavors makes a great pair. Agua de Piedra Malbec 2008 is just the right balance for this meal. Raspberry aroma's, black currant and red plum on the palate with a smooth silky finish to "wow" anyone and compliment the dish. Since there are apples in the "stuffing" the sweet flavors of the apples helps pull the red plum sweetness right out of the wine.

Halloween is in a few days, so grab a bottle of Agua de Piedra Malbec and your favorite Halloween Classic and whip up this dish!

For more info: Agua de Piedra can be found at King Farm Wine Shop in Rockville:  King Farm Villiage Center - 402 King Farm Blvd., Suite 100 - Rockville, Maryland 20850 - 301-208-WINE. (easy parking right in front of the shop). Pork recipe - Rachel Ray 30 minute meals 2 cookbook.
