It has gone down as one of the most shocking mishaps in entertainment, when in 1984 Michael Jackson suffered burns to his face and scalp after his hair caught on fire while filming a commercial for Pepsi. Now, new footage has emerged that details the tragic accident as it happened..jpg)
The video shows Jackson’s hair on fire after pyrotechnics were set off prematurely. Initially, Jackson is unaware of the flames and continues to dance, before a crowd of stagehands rush to his aid. The King of Pop was at the height of his fame when the accident occurred and suffered third degree burns to his face and scalp.
Jackson used Pepsi’s $1.5 million settlement to establish the Michael Jackson Burn Center in Culver City, California.
