Fresh off a stint as Jacob on ABC's LOST, Mark Pellegrino has been cast as Lucifer for the CW show Supernatural. When season 4 of the series ended, the Winchester boys had failed to prevent Lucifer from rising, although we never got a glimpse of him. In the casting call, Lucifer is described as "soft spoken, strangely sympathetic, more vulnerable than evil and should have piercing eyes." Pellegrino will attempt to reign terror on the brothers beginning September 10th.
If Pellegrino looks familiar it's probably due to the many characters he's played on popular programs over the years. During a run on Dexter, Pellegrino played Rita's (Julie Benz) abusive ex-husband, Paul. Pellegrino has also had guest turns on Burn Notice, CSI and Chuck.
There has been no indication from LOST producers if Pellegrino will continue on as the much talked about Jacob character next season. It'll be interesting to see how the producers tackle this situation as the Jacob character has been discussed for since season 3.
