To close out my mid-summer essentials re-cap, I will attempt to honor some of the over looked individuals on the planet.  Consider this... what if somebody was at your beckon call to take you where ever you wanted to go?  I'm talking anywhere, like every step you make no matter how big or small, they're right there supporting you.  Enter the forever slighted, and often abused, feet.  That's right, I'm talking about your dogs!

Summer is the time of year  to let your dogs out!  Enter the infamous, flip-flop.  There have been countless fashion debates over the ages about the worthiness of these ruckus producing 'animals,' but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the flip-flop is here to stay.  In fact, the flip-flop was also in the running for my "summer essentials versatility award.  Now, If you're in doubt, consider first that they are a 20 billion dollar industry.  Secondly, it can't that much of a fashion don't if the likes of Gucci, Prada and Ralph Lauren are producing yearly offerings.

I'm going to give you a few of my favorites, but first a quick note about your dogs.  Now, if you've had your dogs caged up all winter, then they'll probably need a little attention.  Fellas, we can all use a pedicure in our lives.  Personally, I try to get at least one per month, and being on the go like I am, I call on Tania at Genesis: A Mobile Nail Spa Boutique (703-731-3521).  The service is unique in that it 'goes where the feet are.'  They'll come to your office, your home... they'll even meet you in the parking lot!  So just give them a call, and tell 'em Michael sent you!

For a stylish flip-flop (now there's an oxymoron) that suits have a look below, and when they ask, 'who let the dogs out?', just smile to yourself very knowingly.

  • Havaianas offer a wide range of selections, including limited editions.  $22.00
  • Tommy Bahama's San Tropez is a step in the right direction.  The slide is a classy take on the flip-flop the features rich leather uppers.  $110.00 Sale!
  • The Kaemon Braided Sandal from Polo Ralph Lauren has rugged woven-rope straps and a plaid sole for a preppy, heritage finish.  $49.00
