As the crunch of colorful leaves denote the passing of Fall, the impending chill of Winter is poised to have her turn. Washington DC, known for it's unpredictable winters, is becoming a very stylish place to be. With the President and First Lady helping to inspire a new signature-style in the city, designers are taking note.
The recent success of the Silver Spring's 'Street Glam' fashion show put designers, and fashionistas alike on notice that the DC metro area is a force not to be overlooked. Fashion Blogger extraordinare, Scott Schulman (aka - The Sartorialist) even chose DC as one of his stops to host a signing for his new book, The Sartorialist. However, menswear designer Shaka King, a Miami native, has long considered DC a home-away-from-home.
King is slated to return to DC this week for a trunk show, featuring his Fall/ Winter '09 Men's Collections. Guest can expect to see Kings trademark unique detailing, and concentration on draping and wear-ability. The Transient Collection, by Bill Johnson Studio will also be featured. The trunk sale will be held November 5th through the 15th from 12PM until 6PM at Bill Johnson Studio, located at 51 W Street, NW Washington, DC 20001. Patrons will be treated to a private showing of the collections, and have the opportunity to make purchases.
Mr. King can be contacted in advance for private appointments at 917-304-5895, and Mr. Johnson can be contacted at 202-256-2839. Also, for the 'Big & Tall', Shaka King Menswear tends to carry larger sizes. I highly recommend you stop by, and as always... remember to tell them your DC Men's Style Examiner sent you!
