As comic book, fantasy and sci-fi fans nationwide prepare for their westward journey to San Diego's Comic-Con, they'll need to brush up on all the latest comic pop culture and history.  That destination is Golden Apple Comics.  This large-yet-intimate store offers a library of comics, graphic novels, action figures and more ranging from publishing powerhouses like Marvel & DC all the way down to Los Angeles local independent labels as well.  The store offers a variety of functions for the local community and fans also.  In-store signings from new comic book creators like NBC "Heroes" star, Milo Ventimiglia and veteran artist, Tim Sale, along with screenings, movie-nights, showcases and more.

Located on the infamous Melrose Avenue strip, known for their slew of independently owned shops, Golden Apple Comics draws in an eclectic Hollywood crowd.  Whether you're new to the comic book scene or a fan since birth, the friendly, family-run staff are eager to introduce you to new comics or help you find your favorites.

San Diego's Comic Con (or SDCC) will celebrate its 40th birthday this summer.  With 40 years or writers, artists, fans and friends under its belt the event is already completely sold out and plans to be the biggest Comic Con yet.  Comic Con will take place at the San Diego Convention CenterJuly 22nd through the 26th.  It is highly suggested that any non-Comic Con tourists should avoid San Diego that weekend as hundreds of thousands of people will be flooding the downtown and Gaslamp Districts as they partake in the pop culture festivities.
