LA's Farmers Market celebrates 75th anniversary
Starting July 13th, the
Farmers Market at
The Grove kicks off a week of celebration. The market will be filled with music, performances and of course loads of
delicious food.
Tuesday, July 14th, marks the actual anniversary date where patrons can enjoy an evening of special dining and shopping. For only $20 a ticket to the "Taste of Farmers Market", one will sample the best the market has to offer. Browse the rows and rows of fresh fruit,
homemade ice cream, Brazilian barbecue and the best fried food Hollywood has to offer. For an additional cost, one can receive 2 beer/wine tickets to enjoy with their food. Events will be happening all week long. Make sure to visit the Farmers Market website for details.

Originating in 1934 with only 18 vendors, the Farmers Market has rapidly expanded to become a Hollywood landmark for 75 years. The iconic clock tower can be seen from Fairfax Avenue between Beverly Boulevard and 3rd Street, in tribute to Earl B. Gilmore, Roger Dahlhjelm, and Fred Beck, founders of the Market. The trolley which shuttles between the Market and The Grove at Farmers Market is a replica of the original Red Car system which served L.A. for decades. The double-decked trolley makes three stops on its route; the ride is free and so is the fun of riding it between the two destinations. Now home to over 85 different shops and restaurants, The Farmers Market employs 700 people and 90% of the shops are independently owned.
Besides the "Taste of Farmers Market" on July 14th, the whole week is filled with jazz groups, barbershop quartets, face painting, marionettes, comedians and book signings - including the famous "LA's Original Farmers Market Cookbook". The week promises to be fun for the whole family and a great destination for tourists.
