Johnny Depp as The Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

This future Tim Burton film is about the adventures of a young girl, Alice, who falls into a magical world full of strange characters and darkness lurking behind every corner. Alice In Wonderland is currently in production and is to be released on March 5, 2010. As you might expect, Johnny Depp will play the Mad Hatter and Helena Bonham Carter will take the part of the Red Queen. Mia Wasikowska is a lesser known actress from Australia who will star in the role of Alice. She is rumored to be an absolute perfect fit for the part.

Other actors you will see in the film are;
Anne Hathaway as The White Queen
Michael Sheen as The White Rabbit
Alan Rickman as The Caterpillar
Christopher Lee as The Jabberwock
Stephen Fry as The Cheshire Cat
Crispin Glover as The Knave of Hearts
Matt Lucas as Tweedledee and Tweedledum

Johnny Depp and Tim Burton have collaborated several times in the past. Alice In Wonderland will be his 7th movie with the director. Johnny Depp has also worked side by side with Tim Burton's partner Helena Bonham Carter 4 times including Alice In Wonderland. Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Burton are not married, yet they are partners. They live together and have 2 children together. Below are the movies in which Johnny Depp and Tim Burton have worked together on. Helena Bonham Carter has been in the latter 4 of them.

Edward Scissorhands (1990)
Ed Wood (1994)
Sleepy Hollow (1999)
The Corpse Bride (2005)
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)
Sweeney Todd-The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007)
Alice In Wonderland (2010)

When asked about his newest work (Alice in Wonderland) with Burton he commented: "It's going to look amazing. It's just really out there. I'm proud of [what we did]."

Although this film is being released by Disney it will not be a remake of Disney's 1951 animated version. Instead it will feature live actors and motion capture technology, the scenes are set in the Victorian era. The music for the film has been composed by Danny Elfman.

This version of the story is based on the Lewis Carroll's book Through The Looking Glass, which is a sequel to his Alice In Wonderland. It will be set 10 years after Alice first ventured into the strange world. The story follows Alice, who is now 17, returning to Wonderland for the second time despite having no recollection of her first visit. Alice is being proposed to in front of hundreds of snooty aristocrats when she soon runs off and ends up following the white rabbit back to Wonderland.

The screenshots that have been recently released are exquisite, surreal and downright creepy. Johnny Depp looks unbelievable in full makeup as does Helen Bonham Carter. The set is extremely eerie looking like so much of Burton's work with lots of attention to detail. This upcoming movie is sure to be unique as imagination tuns to madness and a fairytale becomes a nightmare. Alice has grown up and so has Wonderland. Off with her head!
