Looking for something new, fun and good for the community to lend your time and efforts to? The Fort Lauderdale Historical Society and The GClub at Riverwalk Trust will host “Summer TEAse”, a Happy Hour Tea Party on July 17th from 4-7 pm at the History Centers’ 1905 New River Inn.

Stay cool this summer at a happy hour that includes tea, wine spritzers, mar tea-ni’s, chocolate, raffle prizes and more. Enjoy a jewelry and clothing fashion show sponsored by Zola Keller and Daouds Fine Jewelry. Proceeds benefit the Fort Lauderdale History Center. Tickets are $50. A $75 VIP ticket includes complimentary parking and a special gift. To RSVP or for more information, please call 954-463-4431 ext. 16.

The collaboration on this summer event is exciting for both organizations that are dedicated to preserving the history of the Fort Lauderdale community and maintaining the beauty of Riverwalk. Fundraisers like the “Summer Tease” allow the History Center to fulfill its mission of bringing history to life through exhibitions, education programs and public programs.

Located on the New River, the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society tells the story of our community’s history from the Pioneers of Fort Lauderdale to the present day through its four historic structures: 1905 New River Inn, which houses the Museum of History and was the first building in Broward County to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places; the 1905 Philemon Bryan House, a four-square Vernacular style house; 1905 Acetylene Building, which produced acetylene gas to light the New River Inn; and the 1907 King-Cromartie House , which belonged to one of the first pioneer families in Fort Lauderdale. The site also includes a replica of the first Broward County school house and the Hoch Heritage Center, a public research library that holds the largest collection of material related to greater Fort Lauderdale, including more than 250,000 historic photographs.

The GClub at Riverwalk Trust is a legacy project developed by former chair of the Riverwalk Trust and BNY Mellon Vice President, Renée Quinn. "As a past Chair, I wanted to take on a meaningful project that would make both a visual and tangible impact on the heart of our downtown, the Riverwalk Park. By bringing together Riverwalk Trust's past chairs and tribute honorees with community leaders and residents, we can tap into years of experience and commitment. It is our responsibility to give back to our 'Central Park' that we call Riverwalk."
