The 8 new strangers have arrived in their plush new home in the Historic Dupont section of Washington, DC, Real World 23 has begun. Unfortunately, a lot of local residents are not too fond of all of the filming and action that it has begun to attract. A little under 2 weeks of filming and they have already started to draw negative reactions. Even a local neighbor, who lives across the street from the newest of the MTV homes, has started a blog. This blog, http://antirealworlddc.blogspot.com/ is strictly dedicated to the pain and suffering that he, as a neighbor, is enduring from the filming. The blog also includes interviews from other residents, videos and pictures that he has personally taken of the cast members. This is all too familiar, just as Real World: Philadelphia cast tolerated a lot of negative feedback from the locals, even on air. Perhaps Real World cannot make it in the big cities anymore.

It has been stated on numerous blogs and articles that the Real World cast moved in just last Thursday July 2nd and already there has been countless complaints of rude cameramen and lights shining brightly at unnecessary hours of the night. A YouTube video captures a young girl reporting for a local news station's website about the Real World. She is shown asking questions and getting answers from a young man on how he feels about the taping and everything that goes along with it. Although she is not reporting on anything negative, a Real World cameraman is shown getting in her face, putting his camera in front of her camera, in front of the interviewee and walking across her shots.

Taking DC by storm, local News TV shows have begun to incorporate the Real World 23 in their news reports. Washington DC's NewsChannel8 reported on a young girl who writes for a blog, BrightestYoungThings.com. As another Dupont resident, she gives very mixed reviews about the filming happening in her neighborhood. In the end she puts it in a way, that she hopes that during this time of change, the Real World: DC will show the good of the city and not just debauchery, drinking, and girls in hot tubs.

NYPost.com has reported that local clubs have begun to ban the Real World cameraman. One of the clubs is The Black Cat, which is a very big hot to spot and local musical venue that presents all types of alternative music. The owner of the Black Cat, Dante Ferrando told the Washington Post, we're not really an MTV-style club . . . People come here to hang out and have a drink or see a concert, not be bothered by film crews.

The Real World 23 is currently filming in Washington, DC and is only supposed to last through September. It has drawn a lot of negative reaction in the first 2 weeks, but things could change. They are filming in the time of change in the Nation’s Capital.
