I don't know about you, but whenever I watch a movie in which someone drinks a martini, I have the overwhelming urge to have one myself.  Especially dirty martinis.  I wish that happened with salads too, but it doesn't.

In any event, we made martinis this weekend during a visit home, and I wanted to share a quick, brilliant olive martini-loving tip from a dear friend:

Try storing your olives in the freezer!  Keep them soaking in a small container of gin or vodka.  This way the chilled olives double as ice cubes, and you keep your delicious drink from becoming watered down by pesky ice!  More strong martini = more better.

And if there were ever a time for a stiff, olivey drink, it is late August.  Fall is nearly upon us, and we need all the help we can get to get the most out of our last few warm summer evenings.  Here's to the changing seasons!  May this classic drink always be in style.
