The Communications Workers of America today endorsed Bill de Blasio in his bid for the Democratic Party's nomination for Public Advocate.  de Blasio announced the endorsement in an E-mail to his supporters:

Dear Friends,

Today I am proud to announce that I received the endorsement of the Communications Workers of America (CWA) - District 1, AFL-CIO (CLC), for my candidacy for Public Advocate.

For many years, I have worked with CWA to protect the rights and needs of New York City's workers. Together we fought to maintain important health benefits for Verizon employees and demanded vital worker and consumer safeguards in the telecommunications industry. CWA shares my priorities for our city, including preserving child care and ensuring adequate affordable housing is available for all New Yorkers.

I am incredibly proud to have CWA's support in this campaign. Our growing coalition is dedicated to making New York a city that truly serves the needs of its people.

As always, thank you for your continued support.

Bill de Blasio
