Facebook and CNN announced last week their partnership to make Internet history.  The two companies have been collaborating on developing an application to allow Facebook users to watch the inauguration while interacting with fellow social networkers in real-time.

Users will be able to go to CNN.com while still remaining logged in to Facebook.  Both companies are preparing to handle millions of users and anticipate the inauguration being the most watched web based video event in history.

“We’re building the technical infrastructure for the possibility that this may be the most watched event ever on the Internet,” said KC Estenson, president of CNN.com

CNN stated the idea came on election night when so many Facebook users logged in and updated their status stating their stance on the election.
