Following The New York Yankees 7 - 3 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in game 6 of the World Series New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg announced a ticker tape parade celebrating the Yankees victory for Friday, November 6.
“The Yankees have thrilled the City all year long with their come-from-behind victories and never-say-die attitude, and they did it again in the World Series," said Bloomberg. "What’s sweeter than a World Series won at home? The only thing that comes close is a ticker-tape parade up the Canyon of Heroes, and that’s exactly what New Yorkers will get on Friday.".
The parade will begin on Broadway at Battery Place at 11:00 AM and continue northbound up the Canyon of Heroes to Chambers Street. The parade will be followed by a ceremony at City Hall Plaza, at which the Mayor will present the Yankees with Keys to the City.
The sidewalks lining Friday’s ticker-tape parade up the Canyon of Heroes along Broadway from the Battery to City Hall are open to all members of the public, and the City will set up a large screen near City Hall Park for members of the public to watch the subsequent ceremony. There is very limited space on City Hall plaza for the ceremony itself. The city will make a limited number of tickets available to the public. Information about how tickets will be distributed will be released later today.
Examiner.com will post those details when they become available and will bring you coverage of Friday's parade.
