City Council Member Charles Barron (D - Brooklyn), a candidate for Brooklyn Boorough President on Tuesday joined Dale Baptiste, the mother of two brothers shot and killed by plainclothes police officers over the weekend at news conference to demand answers.
The late afternoon news conference came after the Office of the Chief Medical Exaaminer released a report concluding that Dwayne David and Kayshawn Forde were shot in th back. The police said that the officers were forced to open fire after the brothers came at them with guns drawn, an assertion that Baptiste said would be negated by shots to the back.
"My question is why were they shot in the back if they were shooting at the cops. That's my question," said Baptiste. "What is important to me is finding out what happened that night."
The shooting took place at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn.
