The Decatur Rabbit Breeders Association (DRBA) will hold their annual fall show on Nov. 21, 2009 at 1400 Parker Road in Conyers, Georgia. It usually starts whenever judges and breeders are ready to go; the official target time is usually 9:00 a.m.-ish.

This is a double show for Open and Youth entries, which means that there will be two rounds of judging. It’s a triple show for all cavy breeds and for Netherland Dwarf, Holland Lop, Mini Lop, Jersey Wooly, Mini Rex, Fuzzy Lop, New Zealand, Dutch. Rex, Standard Chin, Satin and Mini Satin rabbits. The DRBA does not publish a schedule in advance, but cavies and rabbits are judged simultaneously.

This is an ARBA-sanctioned show. Judges hail from Utah, Kansas, North Carolina, California, Florida, Tennessee, Indiana and Georgia.

There is no admission fee. But if you haven’t been to a rabbit/cavy show before, you should know that there is also no place to sit. Visitors are welcome, but there are typically few spectators outside of DRBA membership. Watching a rabbit/cavy show involves standing around at the judging tables watching the judges handle the animals. This is a great opportunity to see many breeds of high-quality rabbits and cavies up close. Breeding stock and pet stock are for sale.

Lunch is catered and reasonably priced.

Take I-20 East from Atlanta. Take exit 82, GA Hwy. 20 & 138 (Conyers, Monroe). Turn right onto Hwy. 138. Go to the first traffic light on Hwy. 138. A Shell gas station and Krystal are on the right. Turn right onto Salem Rd.; there is no sign. On Salem Road, pass Hooters and Folks Restaurants. Salem Road bears to the left between Mountain Adventures and Eastside Bank. At the next traffic light, turn left onto Parker Road. Show is .5 mile on left at 1400 Parker Road. The building sits back off the road. Sign out front says “Assurety Interiors-Industrial.” Turn left into the driveway. Lots of free parking.
