About six hours southeast of Dallas, not far from Corpus Christi lies the small town of Rockport and its beach, which boasts the title of first Blue Wave Beach in Texas. I had to ask myself, what is a Blue Wave Beach? Blue Wave Beaches apparently have to earn a special certification to use this title, which means that these beaches do not have litter, are clean, and provide hygienic and everyone-friendly facilities. The one time I visited the beach at Corpus Christi was enough to appreciate a beach which can boast these things.

Rockport will be the perfect place to visit for Texans as it will also host the Rockport Art Festival on July 4th weekend for a little air conditioning coming in off the beach. While in Rockport you and your family can also visit the historic Fulton Mansion and Texas Maritime Museum to see what Rockport and Fulton were like in Texas past.
