Best vegetarian/Indian restaurant in Dallas
The Cosmic Café, located in the chic uptown area at 2919 Oak Lawn, is probably one of the few truly vegetarian-friendly spots in the Dallas area. Specializing in Indian-inspired dishes, they are also well known around town for their trademark third eye T-shirts.
The menu is garnished with light treats like hummus with pita bread or fresh mango deserts. You could fill up on a few of these or dive into the real meals, each with their own catchy name. The most abnormally fabulous dish there is the Cosmic Stir. I say abnormally not because it is hard to swallow but because the taste is unexpected. The steamed rice is fluffy, and the vegetables savory, but it’s the dressing that gives this plate its zing. My best guess is that this sauce is the offspring of a hot and heavy night between a bottle of soy sauce and an equally tantalizing bottle of vinegar.
Accompanied by the perfectly blended bottomless spicy chai, a crisp fall night outdoors turns warm and fuzzy. Surrounded by the vibrant blues, yellows, and reds of the Indian-themed paintings you will find yourself surprisingly deep in thought and food appreciation. Afterward you can continue the experience upstairs by joining in on a yoga session.
By the end of your excursion at the Cosmic Café you’ll feel better than you would had you spent hundreds at a spa, especially knowing you were only around the corner and did it all in under twenty.
