As you've no doubt all heard by now, Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, making it just a bit more convenient to party, from daytime into the night.
Los Angeles is not exactly known for preserving its historical structures, but this weekend several historic venues are sites of Halloween festivities for young and slightly older ghoulish history buffs alike.
I have fallen in love anew with the Original Farmer's Market at Third and Fairfax which is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. So I highly recommend a trip there, and this weekend they're enticing you with an all day party for the whole family. You can even bring the four legged members, as the day begins at noon with Growl-o-ween, a parade and costume party for pooches at the Three Dog Bakery. The day ends with a costume dance party at the West Patio, where DJ "Sweeney" Todd will be spinning.

Heritage Square Museum has for 40 years made it its mission to preserve and celebrate the architectural history and cultural diversity of our city. It has provided a space for rescued Victorian homes that would otherwise have vanished from the landscape of L.A. The museum will be hosting Safe Haven Trick or Treating for children aged 1-12 accompanied by an adult this Saturday evening beginning at 4 P.M.
And Saturday night, KCRW will host their Masquerade: A Halloween Costume Ball and Dance Party at the legendary Park Plaza in the heart of downtown L.A. for adult revelers. Each room of the hotel will be decorated with a unique theme. Guest DJ's and performers will join the radio station's own music programmers in providing the evening's entertainment. Treats will be available for sale by several well known mobile food trucks from around town including the kogi taco truck (you've been forwarned of their location).
