The Super 100 Showcase at El Cerrito High School was the ultimate showcase of boy’s high school basketball talent in the San Francisco Bay Area. The two day showcase featured some of the top players in Northern California.  Salesian High School should be the top team in the region as they are loaded with talent.

Here is a list of the top players who should have big years for their high school teams in the upcoming year in High School Basketball.

Khion Sankey, 6-4 wingman, 2010, Newark-Sankey will be the heart and soul of a traditionally strong Newark Memorial program, which has not lost a league game in like 7 years. Sankey is a wingman who is very strong on the offensive boards. He has a nose for the ball and he is very effective at making the tough play. Sankey has some low to mid major schools looking at him and he should end up getting a scholarship at the end of the year, as he leads Newark to another league title and a contending spot in the Division 1 North Coast Section. Sankey is developing a perimeter game that is helping his overall play and basketball development.

John Green, 6-6 forward, 2010 Castlemont-A small forward who can play inside/outside. Green is starting to get into basketball shape after shedding some excess weight. He is another guy who should be going Division 1 at the end of the year. Green has a very crafty game in the post and he is solid from outside out to 17 feet. While he is not overly athletic, Green is very long and his length helps him on both ends of the court.

Mackenzie Moore, 6-5 wing, 2011, College Park- Moore has come out of nowhere and this event was his coming out party. He showed his overall ability to handle, pass and shoot the ball. He is very skilled and he can make plays on both ends. He was voted the MVP of the upperclassmen’s game. It will be interesting to see how he plays this season when the games count. But, if he can play like this during the regular season, then various big time division 1 programs will be coming out to see him play this season.

Brandon Ashley, 6-8 forward, 2012, Bishop O’Dowd-Ashley will be the next big time recruit in this area. Only a sophomore, he is a skilled face up big man. He is very athletic and he can alter games with his athleticism on the court. Offensively, he showed a variety of jump hooks, pull up jumpers and moves off the dribble. He rebounds the ball and played well throughout the entire weekend. Expect all of the high major elite programs such as Kansas, UCLA, UNC and others to be knocking down his door.

Andre McPhail, 6-6 forward, 2011, Deer Valley-A run and jump rugged power forward type, whose stock is rising. McPhail is very tough in the paint, he battles and he plays hard all the time. He is a very good rebounder and defender. Offensively, he is effective from mid range, despite an unorthodox shooting form. He would be a big time steal for a mid major program. He should have a monster year for Deer Valley and expect them to win the Bay Valley Athletic League.

Chris McNealy, 6-5 shooting guard, 2010 San Ramon Valley- McNealy is a very intriguing player who will have all the high major programs interested in him as the season continues. He is a tough and athletic guard who can give you problems on both ends of the court. McNealy He showed an improved handle and ability to get to the basket. Defensively, his length gives guards problems as he uses his length to cause terror on the court. San Ramon Valley may be the team to finally knock off De La Salle in the East Bay Athletic League.

Desmond Simmons, 6-6 wingman, 2010, Salesian- He has already committed to the University of Washington. Simmons is a jack of all trades. A rebounder and hustle player who plays hard and competes on the court. He was the reason Salesian won the state title last year and he will be the reason they can possibly win one again.

Bryce Thompson, 6-3 wing, 2011, Salesian- Thompson should have a breakout season this year as he played a backup role last year behind all world guard, Jabari Brown who has since transferred to Findley Prep in Las Vegas. Thompson is an improving wingman who showed improved range on his jumper and athleticism, which helped him to make plays. With his emergence, as well as the other young players on the team, Salesian well oiled basketball program, should not miss a beat.

Kyle Travis, 6-foot-1 guard, 2010, Valley Christian-A strongly built guard who competes on the court. In the mold of former Santa Clara Bronco guard Brody Angley, Travis can knock down open shots, pass the ball well and command the court. While Valley Christian will probably not win the West Catholic Athletic League, he should be able to keep Valley Christian in a bunch of games.

Joseph Slocum, 6-foot-4 guard, 2010 Vallejo-Another player who should be inked by the end of the year by a Division 1 program. He is a power point guard that is strongly built. He played well the entire weekend as well. He ran his team, knocked shots and rebounded the ball well. He showed the ability to score a multitude of ways. With him in the line-up Vallejo High School should possibly win the Solano County Athletic league and go deep in the playoffs.

Dominic Artis, 5-foot-8 guard, 2012, Salesian- Artis has gotten better at running a team and making good decisions on the court. He had solid form on his shot and has a good feel for the game. Size may be an issue against bigger guards, especially on the defensive end. Artis has a good outing though, as he was the co-MVP of the underclass game.

Quincy Smith, 6-foot guard, 2011, Salesian- Smith is an athletic point guard who can make plays. At times, he gets out of control, but he is a very talented player and a lock down defender who should have a very good year for Salesian.
