"Family Guy" is one of the most gleefully politically incorrect shows on television, and its creator, Seth McFarlane, couldn't care less whether or not you're offended by it. FOX, on the other hand, has been endlessly supportive of McFarlane's brand of comedy, picking up three of his animated series and, just this past week, airing "Seth and Alex's Almost-Live Comedy Special". But did a bit from the special about deaf people go too far? Read on for the video to judge for yourself, my gentle Examiner readers...
Just a week or two ago, we reported that Microsoft had pulled out advertising during FOX's "Seth and Alex's Almost-Live Comedy Special", a comedy-revue style special that aired over the weekend on FOX, due to their unhappiness with some of the special's material. When the following video showed up, we wondered if this wasn't one of the reasons why:
Yes, that was a deaf joke. A really, really long deaf joke. Coming from the creator of "Family Guy" (which, by the way, we'd like to point out that we're not fans of), this shouldn't have been surprising. Does Marlee being included in the bit make it any less offensive to deaf viewers? Are there any "deaf viewers" who woulda caught this broadcast? What do you think, Examiner readers? Did this bit go too far? Sound off in the comments section below, folks: we wanna hear what you have to say!
