On the outskirts of Downtown Orlando, there exists a small road with quaint, independent businesses. Ivanhoe has thrift shops, a record store, restaurants of all types, a lingerie shop, a couple of spas, and some unique home decor stores. One of the jewels on Ivanhoe is Ethos, an all Vegan restaurant.
It’s not often you find Vegan restaurants anywhere, especially Orlando. This is the South after all, and people love their barbecue. So it’s quite a surprise to find Ethos downtown. Ethos acts not only as a restaurant, but also as a small art gallery, with local artists’ work gracing the walls of the dining room and even the bathrooms. It gives the place a cultural, yet local feel.
Ethos’ menu offers wraps, sandwiches, burgers, and even a Philly cheese “steak.” They also have salads, desserts, and even pizza. I had the Samson Burger ($6.95), a black bean burger with lots os veggies mixed in, on delicious ciabatta bread. It came with chips and salsa, which had fruit in it and therefore created a very different, yet scrumptious taste. I’m a condiments type of gal, so my favorite part of the meal was the Vegan mayonnaise. I’ve also had this at Loving Hut and I love it on any kind of burger, sandwich, or wrap.
If you’re looking for something unique or you just want to try something you’ve never tried before, head to Ethos on Ivanhoe. You will be delightfully surprised and probably feel good about yourself at the end of you animal-free meal.
