Microchip identification can be a vital tool in your dog finding his way home. This month, to honor "Adopt a Dog Month," the Montgomery County Humane Society (MCHS) is offering free microchipping to pets adopted from their shelter. (Kitty cats included).

“ MCHS wants all lost animals to return home,” said Cris Bombaugh , CEO and president.  “Pet caregivers can save now on this important service – it’s [microchipping] a wonderful gift of peace of mind for both you and your pet.”

According to the MCHS, when you adopt a shelter pet, adoption fees vary depending on whether the animal has already received specified services. These include microchipping, which normally costs $25 for implant and registration; a rabies shot; flea treatment; temporary ID tag; and mandatory purchase of a spay/neuter coupon.
