The Obama girls have been promised a puppy. There is much speculation about the kind of dog they might get. One option is to adopt a shelter dog.  November 2-8 is National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week and would be a great time for the Obamas and you to visit the local animal shelter.

An animal shelter offers refuge to faithful and adoring pets. They operate on small budgets and perform heroics.

Even if you aren’t ready to adopt a pet, your local animal shelter can always use your support. Of course, cash is king, but they also need donations of food, towels, bedding, and the best gift of all would be your time.

We all look forward to seeing the new Obama pet. And Michelle Obama has confirmed that they will adopt from a shelter.  A shelter dog at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.  Imagine that.
