November is Military Family Appreciation Month and today is Veterans Day.  Gratitude is extended to all military personnel past and present and to their families.

Gratitude is also extended to the 2500 military working dogs (MWD) that are used for patrol, drug and explosive detection, and specialized missions.

In October of 2008, Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas opened a new $13 million animal hospital  for military dogs.  Combat dogs wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan are first treated on the battlefield and then sent to Germany.  If they need further treatment, they are sent back to Lackland AFB.

U.S. military personnel protect American citizens and combat dogs help protect our soldiers.

Thank you for the sacrifices.
