Maria Daines was so touched by the plight of Bruce, the pit bull type dog in Northern Ireland who is being held under the Dangerous Dog Act and sits on death row (albeit he NEVER did anything aggressive toward any person or animal) that she wrote a song about the happy ending she and thousands of others are praying and working towards for Bruce. Listen to the song on Maria's MySpace account.
The lyrics are written with empathy for Bruce's suffering thus far and with the express hope all the people of the world who are advocating for Bruce will succeed in Bruce being freed. Remember, the East Galway Animal Rescue (EGAR) located in Southern Ireland where the DDA is not law, has offered to provide sanctuary for Bruce.
A very special "Thank You" goes to Daines for writing and recording the song "I'm Coming Home". It is wonderful to see the love and empathy pouring out for Bruce world-wide. But, Bruce is still in danger…
His case is only on appeal and the sentence still says he is to be euthanized. An effort is unfolding to organize a demonstration at New York's British Embasy followed by a global candle light vigil for Bruce. People are being asked to get involved and attend the New York City demonstration. A date and time have not yet been set but I will update readers as things develop.
In the mean time, please keep up the emails going to the authorities in Ireland. Write a brief plea for Bruce to the Irish media:
If you haven't already, please sign the petition
Here are a couple more ideas that will help. Americans - There are ten British embassies in the United States. Consider organizing a demonstration outside the embassy if you live or know anyone who lives in the following cities: Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Miami, Orlando, Boston, Denver, Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco.
Please call the media and let them know you will be there, also take pictures and video and submit them via email to: mail@dangerousdogsact.co.uk
Citizens of the United Kingdom - Write Queen Elizabeth II and ask her to officially pardon Bruce so he may go to live at EGAR. As there is no official email for Queen Elizabeth, letters should be addressed to:
Her Majesty The Queen
Buckingham Palace
London SW1A 1AA
You can also try 'tweeting' the Queen as she is now on Twitter at: http://twitter.com/BritishMonarchy
