Recently a Gordonville, Pennsylvania breeder, Aaron Lapp signed 20 dogs over to the Humane League of Lancaster.   This was an illegal kennel because it was operating without a license. After months of PA dog wardens talking with Mr. Lapp and the fact conditions had deteriorated the Humane League of Lancaster was called and were able to convince Mr. Lapp to sign over the dogs.

This is a small victory for the four-footed but a victory none the less. Every dog that is saved from a life of living in filth and squalled conditions is indeed a victory. Wardens received an annomuous tip in August of this year and cited Mr. Lapp for operating without a license. Now, these dogs have been saved.

A post to my article from yesterday pointed out the new Pennsylvania law has one year to become fully implemented. Yes, governmental inertia is alive and healthy. So, my dog loving friends please keep an eye open for any suspicious situations where dogs may be suffering at the hands of people who view dogs only as a profit to be made and not a sentient being. Report your suspicions to your local dog warden.

For a list of Pennsylvania dog wardens follow this link to http://www.agriculture.state.pa.us/agriculture/cwp/view.asp?a=3&q=126759.
It provides names and phone numbers of dog wardens for each county.

For a quick reference to Pennsylvania's dog laws go to http://www.agriculture.state.pa.us/agriculture/cwp/view.asp?q=126843 to review.

If only one more dog is saved from your efforts it is certainly worth the few minutes it takes to pick up a phone, dial and leave a message.
