Twenty-three animals rescued in May by Cincinnati Police and officers from the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will be available for adoption this coming Saturday in Sharonville.
On May 11, 2009, officers were called to a home in the 2500 block of Vestry Avenue in Clifton Heights after neighbors complained of a stench coming from the home. The place was vacant, except for 20 dogs, 2 birds, and a cat, which officers said where living in deplorable conditions. Officers removed the animals and have been caring for them for two months at the SPCA.
Now, they need new homes.
Interested adopters should go to the SPCA's Sharonville Humane Center on Saturday, July 18th, beginning at noon. The center is at 11900 Conrey Road.
The dogs have been groomed and given medical care, but some will have additional veterinary needs which will be the responsibility of whomever adopts them. The dogs and cats have been spayed or neutered.
The birds are parakeets and will be adopted out as a pair. All the dogs are small to medium sized and the cat is a male domestic short hair.
A lottery system will be used if there is more than one person interested in the same animal. Adopters must complete a pre-adoption questionnaire before they are eligible to adopt.
