Blue from Blue's Clues10.  Blue

This puzzle-solving beagle from Blue’s Clues has been gracing lunch boxes and tiny t-shirts for the past thirteen years. If you know any Nickelodeon fans, you’ll recognize this little blue learning coach. He barely makes our list, getting major points off for the creepy show host.

Astro and Elroy, the Jetsons9.  Astro

“I ruv roo, Reorge!” As Elroy’s oversized best buddy in The Jetsons, this retro space-age great dane has been winning hearts since 1981. After adopting an overenthusiastic electronic dog, George realized that Astro was a better family pet, and the electro-dog was given to the local police force. Maybe George should have read my articles on how to choose a puppy!

Brian Griffin8. Brian Griffin

This bipedal pup from Family Guy has oodles of smarts and a fantastic dry wit that keeps us laughing. He’s perhaps the sitcom’s most complex character, and we love him paired up with Stewie. He easily earns our number eight spot.

McGruff7.  McGruff

This tough dog’s just-say-no stance lands him squarely at number seven. Since 1980, he has been teaching kids about safety, staying in school, and the dangers of drugs. Go, go, do-gooder, and “Take a bite out of crime!”

Santa's Little Helper, The Simpsons6.  Santa’s Little Helper

You’ll all recognize this buggy-eyed retired greyhound, family pet of the Simpsons. This mischief maker was never too bright, but his good heart and unwavering loyalty make us glad Homer brought him home.

Odie and Garfield5.  Odie

Garfield just wouldn’t have been the same without his rambunctious antithesis, Odie. This sweet, dimwitted pup always had a super-sized slobbery kiss to spare, no matter how the angsty feline plotted against him.

Lady and the Tramp Spaghetti Scene4.  Lady and the Tramp

OK, they’re two dogs, not one, but how could I split them up? This pair’s love affair began with the Disney release in 1955. We’ll never forget their first kiss in the memorable spaghetti scene on that bella notte. By the way, you Siamese cats out there just better watch yourselves.

Shaggy and Scooby Doo3.  Scooby Doo

Like, we really love you, Scoob! Best friends with Shaggy since the program first aired in 1969, this gluttonous great dane always managed to get into trouble – and help solve the mystery – with the help of the Mystery, Inc. group. hee-Hee-hee-hee-hee.

 2.  Pluto

Don't get me wrong, we love Pluto for his own happy-go-lucky personality -- but it doesn’t hurt to be trusty sidekick to the most famous mouse in history! This long-time favorite has been around for almost 80 years, and we’ll surely still love him 80 years down the road.

1.  Snoopy

I know. An obvious choice for the first spot, but this bold beagle deserves it. I mean, he has his own dance! He's easily one of the most dynamic and beloved cartoon characters of all time. Now, if only I could teach my pup to wear aviator goggles and a scarf….
