Legendary actor Patrick Swayze pass left us, but he'll always be in our DVD players. The time is right to celebrate his brilliant career with a movie marathon that hasn't been matched since John Hughes left us in August. Below is a list of the top 8 movies starring Swayze to get your movie marathon started. This list is by no means exhaustive, so a link to buy more of Swayze classics follows the list.

8. The Outsiders

Swayze stars in the adaptation of the classic S. E. Hinton book about gang violence. A must see, directed by Francis Ford Coppola and an all star cast.

7. To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar

Three drag queens from New York on a road trip to a enter a huge drag queen contest. Super funny movie starring Wesley Snipes, John Leguizamo, and the man himself, Patrick Swayze.

6. Donnie Darko

Swayze doesn't star in this movie, but it is still one of his most striking and powerful performances. Jake Gyllenhaal wakes up with the exact moment he will die written on his arm. Patrick Swayze is Jack Cunningham, a motivational speaker who is secretly a pedophile. Just watch it, you'll be blown away.

5. North and South (Book I, II, & III)

Orry Main (Swayze) is a  slave owner from Charleston who must deal with his choices in this three part Civil War epic. If you can last through all 6 hours, you'll really appreciate the depth that Swayze brings to this character.

4. Road House

GUY STUFF ALERT: Now we're getting to the classics that really made the man into the the icon. Patrick plays a bouncer in a Mississippi dive bar. If you haven't seen this movie, it's truely time.

3. Ghost

Quotables abound in this 1990 drama. Sam Wheat (Swayze) dies tragically, but returns as a ghost to save his girlfriend (Demi Moore). This was, is, and will be one of the best movies to snuggle up with and enjoy (or have a girl's night).

2. Point Break

GUY STUFF ALERT: Keanu Reeves and the man himself star in this ultra high octane thrill-a-minute action tsunami. Reeves is an undercover cop who infiltrates a  tight group of surfer bank robbers. The only reason this isn't the number one movie on the list is because like Highlander, "There can be only one."

1. Dirty Dancing

Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze star in the best movie of all time. No seriously, this 1987 classic has it all: romance, adventure, an unparalleled soundtrack, hot dancing, funny moments, et cetera. Set in a mountain resort in the Catskil mountains, Grey comes of age with Swayze's help and they both, "have the time of their lives." Swayze also provides a hit record in the form of, "She's Like the Wind."
