Perez Hilton claims that he was assaulted by Black Eyed Peas singer Will.I.Am outside a party at the club Cobra following the MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto, Canada on Sunday night. Black Eyed Peas singer, Will.I.Am, completely denies the event. In any case, many Internet bloggers are declaring that Perez Hilton has met his karma.
This column does not support any type of violence, especially on another writer. However, we do have to ask if Perez Hilton got himself into his own mess with his vile postings about certain celebrities, his pathetic sense of entitlement, and his being a very bad role model for gay people everywhere.
First, one has to give a lot of credit to Perez Hilton. How many other people can become rich by blogging about celebrities while drawing pictures of white droplets coming out of their mouths?
In 2005, Perez Hilton was considered a joke my most people in the industry. However, his audience gew and so did his influence. Soon, record companies sought Perez to promote certain artists. Lady Gaga, who has become a recent Internet sensation, made her debut on Perez Hilton’s website.
There is also a very nasty side to Perez Hilton. This is a guy who once said, “We are taking joy in Britney’s breakdown.” He has regularly outed celebrities such as Clay Aiken, Jodie Foster, Queen Latifah, Anderson Cooper, Neil Patrick Harris, etc. Some of these celebrities came out after Perez Hilton’s nasty tirade and others still don’t discuss their sexual orientation. Prominent members of the gay community have criticized Perez for this.
Perez Hilton has also been very mean about other celebrities: He has constantly made fun of Mariah Carey’s weight by referring to her as “Moo-Moo.” He has also constantly called Miley Cyrus, a young teenager, “Slutty Cyrus.” His recent tirade against Carrie Prejean, who gave her honest opinion about gay marriage on national television, was inflammatory, degrading and in no way made him the legit gay rights activist he pretends to be.
When you make a living being very mean to other people, it is eventually going to come back to you. Just look at Roger Friedman, the gossip columnist for Fox News, who was even worse than Perez Hilton in terms of being vile and having a sense of entitlement. He has recently been fired. Perhaps people are sick and tired of psychotic “writers” taking out their anger online by projecting themselves into the lives of celebrities. If Perez Hilton thinks his run-in with Will.I.Am is just a unique situation, he has other surprises ahead of him.
