October 31st is just hours away, and if you’re still fretting over your zombie costume or searching for that last tombstone to complete your front yard cemetery, here are five Burbank stores that can fulfill any last-minute holiday need:

Halloween Town - 2921 West Magnolia Boulevard - 818-848-3644
Unlike the temporary pop-up stores that appear for just one month every year, Halloween Town is a permanent Burbank retailer, specializing in high-end horror merchandise. You will certainly find the campy costumes, plastic skeletons and fake blood that any Halloween store carries, but Halloween Town excels with high-end offerings like spooky jewelry, gothic paintings, crystal skulls, and $1,500 Hollywood-caliber costumes. And since they’re open year-round, it doesn’t have to be October for you to enjoy their huge selection of horror-themed T-shirts, bags, toys, and more!

Spirit Halloween Store - Empire Center, 1601 North Victory Place - 818-847-9625
Spirit Halloween Store probably has the best location in Burbank, sandwiched between Best Buy and Target in the former Linens 'N Things space, but its easy access is reflected in its remaining inventory. The store is pretty well picked-over, with an acceptable number of costumes but very little in the way of decorations and accessories. If all you need is a princess dress, a plastic sword or some red hairspray, though, this is a convenient stop to hit in the midst of running other errands.

RIP Halloween Mega Store - 301 North San Fernando Boulevard - 818-238-0371
This lesser-known brand of pop-up store carries the same merchandise as others but appears to have lower prices on many of the items. Styrofoam tombstones that sold for $26.99 at other retailers were priced at just $17.99 here. In addition to their healthy supply of costumes, RIP also has a larger selection of Halloween decorations than the other “box” stores, featuring everything from tombstones and talking candy bowls to Halloween “garland” with hanging posable skeletons. If you’re looking for ghoulish props, this is a great place to browse.

Halloween Adventure Shops - 401 North First Street - (888) SPOOKY-7
Located in the former Circuit City building across from Burbank Town Center Mall, this Halloween Adventure Shops location primarily stocks costumes, with a small inventory of decorative items. Their wall of makeup offers plenty of options for vampire- and werewolf-metamorphoses, but beware the checkout process: the area is cluttered and unorganized and one register only accepts cash payments, but they don’t tell you that until after you’ve waited in line to get there. If you’re looking to stock up early for next year, their 50%-off post-Halloween sale runs from November 1-4, while supplies last.

Dark Delicacies - 4213 West Burbank Boulevard - 818-556-6660
If you’re looking for inspiration to get into the Fright Night mood or want a relaxing way to wind down the Halloween weekend, stop by Burbank’s favorite bookstore and pick up a frighteningly good read. Since 1994, Del and Sue Howison have operated this unassuming shop on the border of North Hollywood, drawing in some of the biggest names in the horror genre for special appearances and signing sessions, and amassing legions of fans along the way. Check out the recently-released third volume of their Dark Delicacies anthology series, or pick up an autographed treasure leftover from a past signing. And if you’re overwhelmed by the large selection, either Del or Sue is always there to offer personalized recommendations, or to just point you in the right direction of a piece you’re sure to love.
