Spending quality time with the family in Las Vegas is not expensive when you know where to go. Tourists and visitors can easily enjoy free family friendly activities that don't involve casinos, gambling, or adult-themed stage shows. Here is a list of local activities that families can enjoy together with or without children.

Desert Demonstration Gardens - The Gardens offers free classes and demonstrations to teach water conservation and gardening techniques.

Gilcrease Orchard - One of the oldest ranches in Las Vegas that offers fruit picking and a chance to walk through fresh fruit orchards.

Anderson Dairy Tour - Learn how milk is processed and packaged through this free tour for children and adults. 

Gus Sabo Memorial Park viewing area - Located at North Las Vegas Airport, this is the perfect spot to watch planes take off and land. There is also a park nearby for picnics.

U. S. Air Force Thunderbirds Tour - A free 90-minute tour of the famed Thunderbirds. Reservations are required.

Desert Tortoise Habitat - This is at the Red Rock Conservation Area and provides an up-close and personal look at real live desert tortoises.

Ethel M Chocolate Tour - A free self-guided tour. The Ethel M chocolate factory is also located next to the Botanical Cactus Garden where the largest collection of Nevada succulents and cacti are displayed.

The National Vitamin Company Tour - Tour the factory and see how vitamins and beauty products are made. Free samples are given out at the end of the tour.

Henderson Bird Preserve - Expect lots of walking on this free tour to view thousands of migratory waterfowl and resident desert birds.

Labyrinth at St. Andrews Catholic Church - This is interesting and fun. Walk the labyrinth with or without the children to seek guidance, wisdom, or to relax from everyday stress.
