Since you have the grill fired up already for the 4th of July holiday, here is a quick and simple dessert recipe that is sure to get rave reviews from your guests. Grilled pound cake; you might think, Huh? That can’t be good, but oh trust me this is one that will knock it out of the ballpark.

Ok, it’s real simple. Either make a traditional pound cake or you can use store bought, which ever is easier for you.

• Slice the pound cake into 1 inch slices

• Place two slices of the pound cake on the grill. (If you want to “Mark” the pound cake, place them with one end pointing to 10:00 on the grill, wait 2-3 minutes, then rotate to the 2:00 o’clock position. Repeat for the other side, and this will give you perfect grill marks on the pound cake slices. It just makes it look real pretty.

• After you have grilled your pound cake slices. Top them with either store bought or homemade whip cream.

• Then top with strawberry compote, and a sprig of mint to give it some more color.

This recipe is sure to be a winner this 4th of July.
