It seems that barbecues and the lake go hand in hand. Summertime is the best season to be out on the water and to cook a great barbecue meal. But how can you combine the two? Well let me tell you. I saw the most inventive thing this last weekend while I was helping a friend restore his 35 foot sailboat. It was a small grill that attached to the railing on the side of the boat, now granted it is not a very big grill but the amount of flame that the propane attached bottle puts out would be enough to grill even the thickest of steaks in the appropriate amount of time.

Come to find out there is a huge market of these little devices available for the avid griller who wants to take their grilling skills afloat. It is remarkable how efficient these grills can be; most of the models on the market use the standard propane bottles that you can acquire in any sporting goods store or even a Wal-Mart, and the one propane bottle will definitely give you enough fuel for four or five grill sessions, depending on how much you are grilling or how long the proteins take to cook.

There are several types available, a good source to start with would be Overtons.com they have one model; the Magma Catalina model that sits on a pedestal pole that you can slip into a mounting hole for a deck seat. This model has a huge 315 sq. in. grilling surface which should be enough room to grill for the entire crew and guests. I like the fact that the grill is stabilized by the pedestal mounted in the seat hole. Plus the grill lid will not slam shut on you. Cleaning is a breeze since everything just snaps in and out. It also has a small work surface on the front of the grill to make preparation easy.

So look to see what there is out there that best suits your needs and get to grilling on the high seas. Being on the water seems to make everyone hungry, so go enjoy.
