Burger King on Thursday (October 29th, 2009) lengthened its Windows 7 whopper promotional deal in Japan from seven to 16 days. Although Burger King only has 15 stores in Japan, its promotion of an enormous seven patty whopper for 777 yen (about $8.50) for the first 30 customers of the day is a popular hit. The new BK promotion is working in conjunction with Microsoft for the worldwide launch of the new Windows 7 operating system. After the first 30 customers of the day hungry Japanese burger lovers can still pay only about 15 dollar for the family sized Whopper.
The sandwich has 2,102 calories and stands 5.1 inches tall. Over 6,000 were sold in the first four days of the promotion so Burger King Japan decided to extend the promotional period. The promotion was meant to start a buzz for Windows 7 among everyday non-computer savvy consumers. Whether or not the popularity will turn into Windows 7 sales, both BK and Microsoft are getting a lot of attention from the gigantic Whopper.
