  Campechana de Serrano at Yelapa

In another great update from the Epicurean Publicist (who provided the details and pictures), Yelapa Playa Mexicana has opened its doors on November 11th.

Owner Chuck Bulnes, a well-established figure in Houston's restaurant scene, has joined forces with Chef L.J.Wiley and Manager Brett Story to bring the experience of dining at a Pacific Coast Mexican fishing village to its new location at 2303 Richmond Avenue. The menu features dishes infused with fresh ingredients and unique preparations that will become quick favorites.

With its laid-back atmosphere, the restaurant will allow diners the opportunity to relax and enjoy. The hours of operation are Monday and Tuesday From 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM and Wednesday through Saturday from 11:00 AM until Midnight. A social hour with drink specials will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM daily. Signature offerings include:

  • Two Ceviches: Fuji Apple, Chorizo, Grilled Scallion, Litchi Pickle  and Citrus, Pasilla Chiles, Black Sesame, Hibiscus & Ginger
  • Campechana de Serrano: Rock Shrimp, Crab Claws, Avocado, Chipotle Salt
  • Caesar de Yelapa: Grilled Romaine, Poblano Dressing, Red Jalepeno, Cotija
  • Roasted Corn Gazpacho: Crab Salad, Corona & Lime, "Lucas"
  • Sopes: Braised Lamb Shoulder, "Mexican Kimchee", Avocado
  • Pozole: Braised Pork and Hominy; Red Cabbage, Radish, Cilantro & Lime
  • Snapper Veracruz: Tomato & Caper, Shallot & Olive, Lemon & Bay
  • Scallion Barded Tuna: Grilled Yukon Mashers, Passion fruit, Mixed Greens
  • Slow Broiled Salmon: Cauliflower Risotto, Cocoa con Chiles
  • Flan: Served with Rosewater foam.
